Municipal Administrator – Municipality of Norristown

Position Summary

MUNICIPAL ADMINISTRATOR—The Municipality of Norristown (population 35,800), Montgomery County, Pennsylvania seeks a dynamic, skilled, and experienced leader to serve as its Municipal Administrator (Manager).  The Administrator has authority to direct and supervise all day-to-day operations of the government, and serves as the central point of contact among the Municipal Council, staff, and the community.  The Administrator administers an annual budget of $43.6 million with 8 direct report managers/directors (Codes, Finance, Human Resources, Planning/Development, Police, Fire, Public Works, Recreation) and approximately 156 FT employees in all departments which include Administration, Police, Codes/Building, Public Works, IT, Human Resources, Finance, and Fire. 

Qualifications

Candidates should have (1) a minimum of 7-10 years of progressive, municipal management experience in a municipality of similar size and complexity, preferably in an urban setting; (2) knowledge of modern local government management principles, practices, programs, and innovation; (3) Bachelors Degree, Masters Degree preferred; (4) ICMA Credentialed Manager Preferred; (5) Proficiency in Spanish is preferred;  (6) demonstrated dynamic, leadership ability and strong organizational skills.  Salary range $190,000- $230,000 with excellent benefits; actual salary to be based on experience/qualifications.
