Officials taking part in the Summit will share resources and innovative ideas, discuss issues of mutual concern and participate in a wide array of educational and professional development sessions designed to address the ways and means of meeting pressing challenges of municipal management and good governance.
The 2024 Municipal Leadership Summit will be held in downtown Scranton, Pennsylvania. The Hilton Scranton and Conference Center Hotel, 100 Adams Avenue, will serve as the headquarter hotel with overflow meeting space and sleeping rooms located at the Radisson Lackawanna Station. Keynote Speaker
Charlie Dent
Charlie Dent leads bipartisan, bicameral policy education programs for sitting members of Congress. In addition to his role at the Aspen Institute, he is a regular Political Commentator for CNN, MSNBC, and other media outlets. He is also a Senior Policy Advisor to the global law firm, DLA Piper and serves on the boards of nonprofit organizations including CARE USA and The National Archives Foundation.
In recent years, Dent has served as a Distinguished Advisor for Pew Charitable Trusts, a Visiting Fellow for the University of Pennsylvania, Perry World House, and the Inaugural Visiting Fellow at Penn State’s McCourtney Institute of Democracy. Prior to those positions, he served 7 terms in the U.S. House of Representatives representing the 15th Congressional District of Pennsylvania, and 14 years in the Pennsylvania General Assembly with eight and six years in State House and State Senate, respectively. As a Member of Congress, Dent served as a Subcommittee Chair of the House Appropriations Committee and chaired the House Ethics Committee. Prior to that, he helped establish the House Homeland Security Committee where he served for six years. During that time, Dent also served on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and one term on the Government Reform and Oversight Committee.
Dent holds a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Service and International Politics from the Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Public Administration from Lehigh University. He is married to his wife, Pamela, and they have three grown children, Kathryn, William, and Jack.

The room rate at the Hilton Scranton is $149 + 6% sales tax and 7% occupancy tax. The group rate will be available until Monday, September 16 or until the room block is sold-out. The Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel will also be providing overnight rooms for the Summit. The room rate at the Radisson Lackawanna Station is $149 + 6% sales tax and 7% occupancy tax.
