About the Position

Stowe Township is seeking a detail‑oriented and highly organized Finance Officer to oversee the Township’s financial management and ensure long-term fiscal stability. This role is responsible for budgeting, financial reporting, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, purchase order oversight, and audit preparation. The Finance Officer plays a key role in supporting the Board of Commissioners by maintaining sound financial practices and transparent reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Budgeting & Financial Planning
  • Prepare and coordinate the annual Township budget
  • Monitor budget performance throughout the year
  • Provide regular budget-to-actual reports to the Board
  • Assist with financial forecasting and long-term planning
Accounting & Financial Operations
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Maintain the general ledger and perform monthly reconciliations
  • Oversee purchase order system and financial documentation
  • Track restricted funds, grants, and capital accounts
  • Prepare financial statements and year-end reports
Compliance & Audit
  • Serve as liaison to external auditors
  • Prepare documentation for the annual audit
  • Ensure compliance with municipal financial regulations
  • Maintain proper financial record retention

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, or related field preferred
  • 3–7 years of accounting or municipal finance experience preferred
  • Experience with fund accounting and municipal budgeting highly desirable
  • Proficiency with accounting software; QuickBooks certification preferred
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills
