City Manager – City of Johnstown

The City of Johnstown is seeking motivated, experienced and collaborative candidates for the position of City Manager.  The City of Johnstown is a home rule municipality located at the confluence of the Stonycreek and Little Conemaugh Rivers.  The City population is 18,000, within an urban area of approximately 60,000.  The City excited the Commonwealth’s Act 47 program in April 2023, and most recently received the 2024 Governor’s Award for Municipal Excellence.  Two higher profile projects the new City Manager will be expected to lead include the construction of a new public safety building and implementation of a $25 million RAISE grant from the US Department of Transportation.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public administration, business administration, economics, or related field.  A master’s degree is highly desirable. Ten years of progressively responsible experience in municipal government including five years as a Manager, Assistant City Manager or Department Head. Expected salary range: $110,000 – $125,000.  Dependent on qualifications and experience.
