Comcast Boosting Speeds For Our Most Popular Xfinity Internet Tiers In Pennsylvania

For the second time this year in the Northeast, we are increasing speeds for our most popular Xfinity Internet tiers, providing an extra boost for customers in Comcast’s Keystone Region. Additionally, upload speeds will be doubling nationally for all Internet Essentials Plus customers, from 100/10 Mbps to 100/20 Mbps. Internet Essentials Plus includes a cable modem, access to millions of WiFi hotspots, and unlimited data for $29.95 per month; and customers who qualify for the Affordable Connectivity Program can get this tier of service for free. Comcast Awards $90,000 and 50 Laptops to Neighborhood Allies to Advance Digital Equity

In celebration of National Digital Inclusion Week, Comcast awarded a $90,000 grant and 50 laptops to Neighborhood Allies, a non-profit dedicated to making Pittsburgh neighborhoods equitable. The organization will use the grant and laptops to launch a digital inclusion initiative focused on broadband adoption, access to devices and educational skills-building tailored to the needs of individuals and small businesses. This announcement is part of Project UP, Comcast’s 10-year, $1 billion commitment to advance digital equity through programs and community partnerships that connect people to the Internet, advance economic mobility, and open doors for the next generation of innovators, entrepreneurs, storytellers and creators. Comcast was recognized with the Pennsylvania Municipal League’s Community Partnership Awards at a ceremony held during the annual Municipal Leadership Summit in Pittsburgh. The award was presented to Alka Patel, Regional Vice President, Government & External Affairs and Jenn Frees, Senior Manager, Government & External Affairs by League President Mayor Danene Sorace of Lancaster. “Comcast is honored to receive this recognition from the Pennsylvania Municipal League,” said Patel. “We are proud to build on our history of making a difference in the Pennsylvania communities we serve and look forward to continuing our partnership with The League.”

In 2007, prior to the development of the Business Leaders Network, The League and Comcast had proudly developed and have fostered a proactive, private-public partnership. This ongoing partnership has enabled League member elected and appointed officials to learn more about the company’s investment in technology, advanced services, and legislative and regulatory matters, as well as their community-giving initiatives. They have also hosted dozens of local officials on Comcast Newsmakers in support of The League’s mission. “Comcast has been a tremendous partner with The League as a founding member of the Business Leaders Network since 2010,” said League Executive Director John Brenner. 

Comcast NBCUniversal Donates $2 Million in Cash and In-Kind to Support Hurricane Ian Relief Efforts

Comcast NBCUniversal along with the Universal Orlando Foundation announced it will donate $2 million to support relief and recovery efforts in Florida following the catastrophic flooding and devastating effects of Hurricane Ian. The commitment includes $1 million in cash and in-kind contributions to the Florida Disaster Fund with the remainder distributed among the Comcast NBCUniversal Employee Assistance Fund, United Way, Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, Team Rubicon, and American Red Cross. Universal Orlando is also donating food in partnership with local organizations. NBCUniversal, Telemundo, and NBC/Telemundo owned TV stations in Florida quickly launched a donation and awareness campaign to encourage contributions and support impacted communities. Local Comcast crews are out in the field repairing damaged fiber lines and setting up generators to power the critical infrastructure and equipment necessary to run the Xfinity network. Comcast also opened its network of more than 200,000 Xfinity WiFi hotspots in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina for anyone to use, including non-Xfinity customers, for free.
