Position Summary
New Hope Borough, Bucks County, PA seeks an experienced, collaborative, and engaged leader to serve as its Borough Manager. New Hope is located along the Delaware River in east-central Bucks County, 90 minutes from New York City and one hour from Philadelphia. Though home to roughly 2,600 residents, the Borough is one of Bucks County’s premier tourist destinations, with a historic downtown of first-class lodging, retail, restaurants, arts, and entertainment that draws visitors year-round. The Borough’s daytime population grows well beyond its resident base on weekends and in peak season. As a result, the scope of Borough operations is considerably larger than the population alone would suggest, supported by an annual general fund budget of approximately $6.3 million. The position supervises all day-to-day Borough operations except police, including administration, finance, planning and zoning, code enforcement, public works, and fire safety.
Qualifications
Candidates should have (1) at least five years of progressively responsible administrative experience in municipal government involving personnel, finance, and general administrative activities, four years of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity; (2) a bachelor’s degree in a related field is required, and a master’s degree in public administration is preferred; (3) strong financial management skills; (4) grant expertise, including identifying funding opportunities, preparing applications, and managing awarded projects through administration and closeout; (5) experience in planning and zoning administration; (6) the ability to lead a team in developing and implementing new ways to help the Borough achieve its objectives; and (7) strong written and verbal communication skills. Salary range of $160,000 to $185,000, dependent upon qualifications and experience, plus an exceptional benefits package.
