via Pennsylvania Department of Transportation

Register today for an upcoming Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Train-the-Trainer Webinar!

Serious crashes involving people walking, rolling, and bicycling continue to rise, prompting new efforts to expand vulnerable road user (VRU) safety education across Pennsylvania. This session introduces a practical train-the-trainer model for delivering engaging pedestrian and bicycle safety lessons to 2nd/3rd and 9th/10th grade students.

Participants will learn instructional strategies that combine classroom discussion, video, and interactive activities to reinforce lifelong safety habits. The session will provide implementation guidance, lesson planning tools, and practical tips for launching bicycle and pedestrian safety education programs in rural, suburban, and urban communities.

This session is ideal for educators, planners, Safe Routes to School practitioners, engineers, transportation safety professionals, health and injury prevention staff, and others working to improve youth safety and mobility.  The first hour will provide an overview of lesson content and instructional approaches for both age groups, followed by 30+ minutes for discussion and Q&A. The same content will be delivered at each of the sessions.
