via PA Department of Health
The Department of Health is accepting candidates for vacant local registration districts. Local registrars work with funeral directors on behalf of the Department to register deaths and provide local, in-person services to issue disposition permits and death certificates.
To view registration districts (by county and municipality), district vacancy information, and more details of the duties and expectations of local registrars, please visit the LR page on the Department website: Local Registrars (pa.gov).
Any adult (age 18+) interested in being considered for appointment to a local registrar position should send a letter of interest and resume to the Local Registrar Support Unit. A local registrar must fully operate within the district they serve. Candidates proposing to maintain an office location in a different district, separate from their residence, should indicate this in their letter of interest and specify the desired registration district. Local Registrars shall also meet all qualifications and abide by all restrictions set forth by statute, regulation, or the Advisory Health Board.
Letters of interest are acknowledged in writing and submissions will be held by the Department until a district vacancy is ready to be filled. When there is a vacancy, all eligible candidates go through an interview process, then one candidate is recommended to the Secretary of Health for appointment.
Interested candidates should submit a resume and letter of interest to:
