Borough Engineer – Borough of State College

Position Summary

State College Borough, a dynamic and thriving community of 40,000 in the heart of central Pennsylvania, is seeking a dedicated and forward-thinking Borough Engineer to lead infrastructure projects that shape the future of one of the most livable and forward-thinking communities.

The Borough Engineer provides leadership and technical expertise in the planning, design, and construction of capital infrastructure projects. The Borough Engineer oversees engineering initiatives related to capital planning, including stormwater and sanitary sewer systems, traffic signals, sidewalks, public works standards, and long-term sustainability goals. The Borough Engineer reports to the Public Works Director and manages the Engineering Technician Team.

Candidate Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (or related field).
  • At least 4 years of experience in civil engineering with a preference for municipal engineering experience, including 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • A Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (required).
  • Strong knowledge of public infrastructure design, stormwater/sanitary systems, and project oversight.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
  • Familiarity with civil engineering software and Microsoft Office tools.

Compensation and Benefits

The Hiring Range for this position is expected to be $100,880 to $126,880 DOQ/E. The Borough also offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes healthcare, retirement, paid leave, and professional development opportunities.
