Join U.S. Senator Bob Casey’s office, the National Weather Service (NWS), the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA), and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for a webinar with critical information on how your community can prepare for and recover from natural disaster events, including flooding.

NWS will speak about the warnings and services they provide to protect lives and property through coordination with partners. This includes flood inundation mapping and access to weather data to help everyone prepare for hazardous weather and hydrologic impacts.

PEMA will share insights about the agency’s role in supporting community preparedness and state disaster recovery and mitigation efforts. Participants will learn about essential tools to keep in their community resilience toolbox such as the Disaster Recovery Assistance Program (DRAP), PA Business Emergency Operations Center, and essential steps to take now so community members are ready when disasters strike.

FEMA will cover what communities can do to become more resilient to flooding. Topics covered include how to access grant funding for hazard mitigation, the value of flood insurance to individuals and communities, and the importance of local floodplain management.

The information in this webinar is intended as general preparedness information for those who assist their communities prepare for and through natural disaster events. It is not specific to a particular disaster, including Tropical Storm Debby.
