Last year, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) launched the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) – a $14.2 billion dollar opportunity to close the digital divide by assisting qualifying low-income households with affording broadband service. The FCC recently announced a new grant program to help communities expand outreach efforts to increase ACP enrollment, specifically to reach historically unserved and underserved populations. Revolutionizing Transportation: The SMART Program 
The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) established DOT’s historic Strengthening Mobility and Revolutionizing Transportation (SMART) grant program. SMART will help local communities leverage advanced smart city or community technologies to improve transportation efficiency and safety. Water Resources Development Act Advances in Congress 
The bipartisan Water Resources Development Act (H.R. 7776, WRDA) authorizes flood control, navigation and ecosystem restoration projects under the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in communities across the country. The House passed WRDA on Dec. 8 by a vote of 350-80 and the Senate is expected to take it up this week.  Learn More >

Model Recycling Toolkit and Grants Available to Local Governments  
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency released a Model Recycling Toolkit to help communities increase participation in recycling programs and reduce contamination in the recycling stream. The Agency also launched two grant programs under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for public education and outreach and improving solid waste infrastructure. Learn More >
