Cities Celebrate One-Year Anniversary of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

Last November, local leaders stood beside President Biden as he signed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act into law. For many communities, this is their first time directly accessing federal funds to meet local infrastructure challenges. As we celebrate the one-year anniversary of this major investment in our nation’s infrastructure, we are also looking at how local governments can continue to maximize this opportunity for the next four years. Read more.

NLC has been monitoring how large cities and counties are using State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund (SLFRF) dollars through our Local Government ARPA Investment Tracker. The tracker now includes projects to which these cities and counties allocated SLFRF dollars through March 31, 2022, the most recent reporting period for which data are available. EPA Seeks Comments on Clean Air Act Regulations 
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is seeking comment on three forthcoming rulemakings to regulate greenhouse gas emissions from new, modified and existing power plants as the next iteration of the Obama Administration’s Clean Power Plan and the Trump Administration’s Affordable Clean Energy rule. EPA is seeking early feedback on rule development by Nov. 21.

EPA Guidance for Communities on FY22 Water Infrastructure Community Grants 
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency released implementation guidance for communities that received Congressionally directed funding for water infrastructure projects through the FY22 Appropriations. The guidance outlines the requirements recipients must meet to receive Community Grant funding and how to apply online through grants.gov.
