EPA Proposed Rule Designates PFOS, PFOA as Hazardous SubstancesThe U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has issued a proposed rule to designate two PFAS chemicals as hazardous substances under CERCLA. The proposed rule could have cost and liability concerns for local governments, including water utilities and municipal airports and landfills. The agency will soon begin accepting public comments on the proposal.
