West Goshen Township, Chester County (population 23,040), a Second Class Township, is seeking applications for a Part-Time Police Department Clerk to serve in the Township’s Police Department. The Part-Time Police Department Clerk plays a vital administrative role within the law enforcement team, providing essential support to officers and department operations. This position involves managing records, assisting with reports, and ensuring smooth communication between the public and police personnel. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining the integrity of departmental documentation while upholding community safety standards. The individual in this position will perform certain clerical work for the Chief of Police, as well as provide administrative support to the Police Department. This is a part-time position anticipated to work 25 hours per week.
Description
The individual in this position will perform clerical duties for the Chief of Police. This position operates with a high level of confidentiality and is expected to maintain all information in the strictest of confidence. Duties of the individual in this position include the following:
- Filing reports, forms, correspondence, etc., in such a manner that material can be promptly located if and when required.
- Proofreading materials prior to publication.
- Duplicating reports and other material as required.
- Must be able to develop a familiarity with police terminology in order to perform duties accurately.
- Taking phone calls and messages as requested.

Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Internet applications.
- Proficiency in operating a multi-line phone terminal.
- Valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver’s License.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently to complete assigned tasks and projects.
- Familiar with general law enforcement databases and procedures.

Salary Range
The anticipated hourly pay rate is $24/hour to $26/hour. The position is eligible to receive certain paid time-off benefits, including vacation, personal, sick, and holiday time.
