Wastewater System Laborer/Operator – North Strabane Township

Position Summary

The North Strabane Township Municipal Authority (NSTMA), a sanitary sewer Authority serving approximately 6,000 customers in Washington County, PA, is accepting applications for a Laborer or Operator to join the NSTMA field staff. This is a Union position under a Collective Bargaining Agreement. Based on classification, routine work involves assisting and/or performing a variety of skilled/semi-skilled physical, technical, and maintenance/operations work along with other duties associated with operating and maintaining the wastewater collection system and pump stations.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid PA Driver’s License. The successful candidate must also pass a physical, criminal background check, and drug screening. Must be physically able to work under various weather conditions and be mechanically inclined. Availability to respond to emergency situations 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, when applicable, is a must.

This is a full-time position that offers a comprehensive benefit package. The Laborer position has a starting salary of $19.46 per hour, with additional compensation based on gaining certain levels of Operator certification. The Operator position requires possession of a PaDEP Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator’s license, and offers a starting rate of $30.71 per hour. UCC Plumbing Certification is a plus and earns additional compensation.
