Position Summary
Cranberry Township, Butler County, is seeking applicants for a full-time Administrative Clerk with the Cranberry Township Police Department. If you’re interested in providing excellent customer service to Township residents and visitors while having the opportunity to learn more about criminal justice, this position may be for you.
As an administrative clerk, the successful applicant will support both the public and Police Department personnel to ensure the department continues to provide top-notch services to Township residents and guests. This position will regularly interface with the public and assist them in a variety of ways, including receiving and responding to the public’s communications, inquiries, requests, and concerns. Technical support will include but is not limited to assisting with the coordination of court hearings, receiving and processing payments, and assisting with the management and quality control of records, files and data. The successful applicant will also assist with the internal department operations by maintaining calendars, receiving and routing mail and providing other administrative support tasks.
This is a full-time position whose work hours will be based on Police Department operating hours and scheduling needs and will include both daylight and evening hours.
Necessary knowledge, skills and abilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
Knowledge of:
- Standard customer service principles and practices
- Records management principles, practices and methods
- Clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures
Skills:
- Skill in data entry, typing and utilization of Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, and Excel) and ability to acquire competency in the use of applicable department / organization specific software
- Skill in the operation of standard office equipment
Abilities:
- Ability to use Butler radio control and Township police radio
- Ability to read, update, and maintain various records and files in numerical, alphabetical or chronological sequence
- Ability to review, compile, and organize forms, documents, and related records for efficient processing and ready retrieval
- Ability to manage a high volume of customer contacts from day to day with consistent politeness and professionalism and apply the Township’s customer service standards and protocols to all interactions
- Ability to and willingness to establish and maintain communication and working relationships with peers, representatives from other agencies, vendors, public officials, and the general public using courtesy, tact, and discretion
Position Information
Required Qualifications
This position requires a high school diploma or GED; supplemented by at least one (1) year of directly related experience in customer service call or clerical or records management experience; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate degree business, public administration criminal justice or related field; and three (3) years of customer service or records management experience in a law enforcement environment.
Wage and Benefits
Approximate Hourly Wage: $19.00-$21.00/hour
