Laboratory Supervisor – Cranberry Township

Position Summary

Cranberry Township, Butler County, is seeking applicants for a full-time Laboratory Supervisor at the Brush Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant. This position is within the Utilities Department and reports to the Plant Operations Manager. Cranberry Township is a community that has become a destination to live, work and play. The region is a center of business and a highly desirable place to live and continues to be a growing residential and business community. The Brush Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant provides wastewater treatment services to all of Cranberry Township, along with portions of neighboring communities. As the Laboratory Supervisor, the incumbent for this position will play a vital role in the efficient operation of the plant and, thus, help to protect the environment and public health.

This position is responsible for developing, administering and overseeing the laboratory activities at the plant, including analyzing water and wastewater samples to ensure compliance with pertinent state and federal regulations including but not limited to water quality testing, laboratory programs and data reporting required for National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit, plant process control and drinking water regulations.

Position Requirements

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry or related field with at least 16 – college semester credit hours in chemistry or holds a valid certificate under the Pennsylvania Water and Wastewater Systems Operators’ Certification Act for laboratory supervisor in the wastewater subclassification; supplemented by four (4) years of analytical laboratory testing experience or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience. Applicants must have a valid Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications

At least two (2) years of analytical laboratory testing experience in the areas of wet chemistry and microbiology

Approximate Wage:

$67,000-$73,000, based on experience, plus our fringe benefits program

Hourly rate: $25.72/hour
