Staff Solicitor – Lower Paxton Township

Continuing its progress in pursuit of administrative excellence and high performance, Lower Paxton Township is excited to announce the creation of the Office of Legal Services within the Department of Administration.  The Office, headed by the Solicitor, will provide oversight to the newly created position of Paralegal, which is awaiting hiring until the Solicitor is brought aboard. 

Lower Paxton Township is accepting applications for the full-time position of Solicitor. An employee in this position is responsible for serving at the pleasure of the Board of Supervisors (BOS) and the Township Manager. The Solicitor shall direct and control the legal matters of the Township.

Township Operations. The Solicitor shall prepare or approve any bonds, obligations, contracts, leases, conveyances, ordinances and assurances to which the Township may be a party. The Solicitor shall commence and prosecute all actions brought by the Township for or on account of any of the estates, rights, trusts, privileges, claims or demands, as well as defend the Township or any Township officer against all actions or suits brought against the Township or Township officer.


Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements: The Solicitor must possess a valid Pennsylvania State license to practice law, as well as possess a valid Pennsylvania State driver’s license. Experience required: in municipal law, public administration, or any other combination of experience consistent with the essential requirements and knowledge of this position.  Experience with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Second-Class Township Code is preferred.

Other Requirements: A favorable criminal background check and a valid driver’s license are required.

Salary Range

$95,000-$125,000, commensurate with experience.
