What’s Your Day Like?
As the Public Works Superintendent at Ferguson Township, you will play a vital role in supporting the Public Works Director by managing accreditation, attending meetings, and addressing citizen inquiries. In addition to administrative duties, you will oversee the daily operations of the Road and Shop Foremen, Road Workers, and Mechanics to guarantee the safe and efficient upkeep of our roadway system, stormwater infrastructure, and fleet vehicles. Your strategic planning skills and leadership will directly impact the community’s well-being and contribute to the overall success of our public works department.

Position Requirements
Successful candidates for the Public Works Superintendent position will possess an Associate Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field; bachelor’s degree is preferred. They must have at least two years of experience in a supervisory or management role, with a minimum of five years in municipal public works. Experience in a union environment is required, along with proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and a typing speed of at least 40 words per minute. Knowledge of paving principles and experience with asphalt work are essential. A CDL is preferred, or the candidate must have the ability to obtain a CDL within a year.
