Zoning Officer – Haverford Township

Position Summary

This position is responsible for processing all incoming communications regarding planning and zoning matters and is a liaison for the Township’s Planning Commission, Historical Commission, and Zoning Hearing Board. Primary functions include assisting in all phases of municipal land use administration; reviewing proposed amendments to Township ordinances; and, participating in long-range planning, community development and economic development initiatives. Incumbent will also administer the Township’s policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure a smooth experience for anyone who contacts the Township offices.

Starting salary is in the low to mid $70,000’s, depending on experience and qualifications.


  • Completion of secondary education or equivalent is required. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Urban Planning or other related field of study is preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible, related experience, preferably in Pennsylvania municipal government, is required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Working knowledge of zoning administration and enforcement in accordance with the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code.
