Zoning and Planning Officer – Plainfield Township

Position Summary

Plainfield Township, Northampton County (Population 6263) seeks a dedicated, energetic leader to serve as the Zoning and Planning Officer. A successful candidate must possess land use planning credentials, a high degree of independent judgement and must be able to work effectively with elected officials, employees, the public and applicants. This position serves as staff liaison to the Planning Commission and Zoning Hearing Board and works with the Building Code Official by reviewing building permits for compliance with the Zoning Code. He/she advises the Planning Commission on Township planning and zoning issues, coordinates the review of land development applications, meets with residents and developers to evaluate building projects for compliance with the Zoning and Land Development Codes, processes applications to the Zoning Hearing Board, and issues Notices of Violation for zoning offenses. Applicant must be willing to work occasional evening hours, as required for performance of duties.  

Qualifications

A thorough knowledge and at least 4 years of experience with the PA Municipalities Planning Code and principles of zoning is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and Word, excellent communication and organizational skills are expected. Pa driver’s license required.
