Assistant Public Works Director – Borough of Stroudsburg

Position Summary

The Borough of Stroudsburg (Population 5,870), Monroe County, PA, seeks a dedicated, energetic professional as the Assistant Public Works Director.  This position is for a “working” supervisor, with responsibilities for planning, construction, repair, maintenance and improvement of the Borough’s public infrastructure.  Position requires hands-on knowledge of public works tasks;  experience in the use of medium and heavy equipment; and management experience.  Applicant must have, or obtain, a CDL Class B license within one year of hire and a Wastewater Collections license within 3 years of hire.          

Stroudsburg Borough has a total budget of $11.9 Million (General Fund $5.2 Million) in 12 Funds and is financially stable, with substantial surpluses the past two years and reserves in place.  The Public Works Department has 9 FT and 1 PT employees.

Qualifications

The Borough is looking for candidates that have: 1) municipal government or comparable private sector or military experience; 2) experience in managing teams; 3) excellent interpersonal and communication skills; 4) basic computer skills; 5) experience with ArcGIS is desirable, but not necessary.  Salary range is $55-$60,000 with excellent benefits, including pension, fully Borough paid health, dental and vision insurance, and generous time off; actual salary to be based on experience and qualifications.
