Position Summary

As one of Connecticut’s oldest municipalities, Glastonbury is dedicated to preserving its numerous parks, historic sites, and riverfront property and supports a highly active community of 35,000 residents. Comprising 51 square miles on the east bank of the Connecticut River, Glastonbury is also one of the largest Towns in the state. The Town is rich with culture, attractions, and thriving business, and is recognized as a prosperous suburban community to the capital city of Hartford.

Glastonbury operates under a Council-Manager form of government with the Town Council comprised of nine members who are elected every two years. The Town Council appoints a Town Manager who serves as the Chief Executive Officer who is responsible for oversight and administration of all municipal functions with the exception of the Board of Education.

Glastonbury seeks an ethical, decisive, strategic, transparent, and values-driven servant leader who balances growth and development with the preservation of open space to become its next Town Manager. Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s in business administration, public administration, or a closely related field, with a Master’s preferred. Applicants should have at least 10 years of experience in executive level decision-making, ideally in local government.
