Assistant Director of Finance – City of Surprise, AZ

Position Summary

The City of Surprise is seeking an Assistant Director of Finance. The ideal candidate will preferably be a licensed CPA with extensive knowledge and experience of accounting principles with a local government. Additional preferential qualifications include managing/supervising daily operations of a finance department including accounting, utility billing, accounts payable and receivable, and revenue collections.


Requires a Bachelor’s Degree plus 5 years experience in accounting, revenue, utility billing, or a closely related activity, and 3 years progressively responsible management experience directly related to the area assigned; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Additional education cannot be substituted for experience.

The City of Surprise provides a competitive compensation and benefits package. The base annual salary range for this exempt position is $100,332 to $150,499.
