Position Summary

An examination will be held to establish a list of eligible candidates for the position of Police Officer, City of Hermitage (Mercer County) Pa.  Applicants must meet the following qualifications:

  1. Must be a citizen of the United States.
  2. Must be of good character and habits and must pass a physical examination, psychological examination, a pre-employment drug test, and a Police Officer Selection Test given at Pennsylvania Career Link@ Mercer County (below).
  3. All applicants must have reached their twenty-first (21st) birthday before the deadline for submitting completed applications.
  4. Must be a high school graduate.
  5. Must have a Pennsylvania Act 120 Certification.
  6. Non-PA residents must be a certified Police Officer in the State they are employed.
  7. Applicants will undergo a thorough background investigation.

Hermitage is a smoke free environment.

Hermitage residency, or residency in an eligible municipality, is required within one (1) year of appointment. Salary range for rank of police officer: $50,418 – $76,308 plus excellent fringe benefits.
