Township Manager – Exeter Township

Position Summary

TOWNSHIP MANAGER — Exeter Township, a Township of the Second Class (population approx. 26,000), Berks County, PA seeks an experienced leader to serve as its Township Manager. The Manager has authority to supervise and direct all day-to-day operations, and coordinates the five-member Board of Supervisors (BOS), staff, and their interaction with the community. Exeter Township is located in central Berks County east of the City of Reading. The township has a diverse tax base with residential, commercial and industrial development.    The Manager administers a General Fund budget of $11,000,000 and 16 additional funds totaling $12,000,000 and 80 FT employees.  The Township is in excellent financial condition with limited debt and pensions which are strongly funded. The BOS is looking for an outstanding, communicative, and innovative leader with skills in community engagement.


Candidates should have (1) 10-15 years of municipal experience; (2) knowledge of modern local government management principles; (3) strong financial skills & planning/land development experience; (4) Bachelor’s Degree with Master’s Degree preferred; and (5) demonstrated strong communication skills. Combination of education and demonstrated experience may be considered.  Salary range $110-$130,000 with excellent benefits; actual salary to be based on experience/qualifications.
